tonight there is no moon in the sky
no shadow to cast

just my feet in the bracken

staring at the dark forest
like it is an ocean

at night time there is no difference

i could still throw myself into its depths
letting the cold permeate me

like the surface of the ocean
the forest appears still
when there is nothing
to illuminate it

through my thick coat the wind takes on another form

pressing against me
like fingertips

i want to grab at it with my hands
fill my pockets with it

front pockets, back pockets, jacket pockets

it is dark except for a street lamp
which wraps itself around me
like an atmosphere

everything is quiet
even the birds whisper

the sky opens its mouth

i dive into the cool, green pine
